However, the shorter wavelength of radio features higher path loss and short range of coverage, so 5G fronthaul demands more base station for distribution.

The present topology of 5G Fronthaul mainly chooses fiber direct connection, passive WDM or active OTN. Compared to fiber direct connection, passive WDM increases the usage rate of existing fiber resources by integrating 3G, 4G, 5G Fronthaul, Backhaul and Industrial IoT for Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Mining, Power etc. For 5G Passive WDM, CWDM scenario is one popular derivative with up to 12 independent channels for service access, using light ranged from 1271 to 1371nm and 1471 to 1571nm. 

Top-Trans TCM-SFP28-LR-XX transceivers is designed for 5G Fronthaul with Passive CWDM System. It uses the light wavelength ranged between 1271nm and 1371nm to create the fiber link up to 10KM via dual SMF. It is fully compliant with 25G SFP28 CWDM MSA and CPRI/eCPRI standard, using CWDM DFB and PIN Receivers. It supports the protocol of CRRI Option 10 (24.33 Gbps), CPRI Option 9 (12.165 Gbps), CPRI Option 8 (10.138 Gbps), CPRI Option 7 (9.830 Gbps).
